Ureteral Stents are used for temporary internal drainage from the ureteropelvic junction to the bladder. Geotek Urethral Stents & DJ Stents have variations like; Closed tip/Open tip, With or without Suture, with or without Guidewire, and Coated/Uncoated. The material used is Poly-urethane mixed with Bismuth / Barium to provide Radio-opacity. Intended for one-time use. Maximum indwelling time is one month. Ureteral stents are placed into target tissue over the guide wire.
